Good manners even when
your dog is excited!

"Debbie, This is a picture of Kramer sprinting to me last week after being called to "come" - it was such a joy to have a dog at the coast that I could let off leash and know that he would come when called. We both had a great time! I was so proud of him and all he has accomplished through training! " teaching your dog to come

Training Dogs To Behave Anywhere and Everywhere

Teaching a dog to behave anywhere and everywhere requires teaching the dog self-control and calmness. Self-control and calmness is one of the most important lessons to teach a dog. Teaching a dog to go from excited to calm has wide spread benefits for the owner and the impact of this training generalizes to many aspects of the dog's life making it so your dog is welcome everywhere.

Our Out and About class helps owner finish off the training learned in the Impeccable Manners Class improving each dog's response to their name, sit, down, come, stay and walking skills.

In addition, owners will learn wonderful self-control and calmness training exercises. These classes take an even more active role in applying the training to daily life. For example some classes address how to apply the training:

  • at the vet office
  • on a hike or at the beach
  • at an outdoor cafe or picnic
  • when company comes over

Because having company over and taking our dog with us everywhere and anywhere requires our dog to have good social skills with other dogs and people sociable behavior training (the perfect balance between calmness and friendliness) will be a major training goal in class.

In addition our January and February class will teach:

  • Go to bed on command
  • Hand Signals for walking, sit, down, come

Off leash Control Through Agility

Fun For Dogs And Owners, where dogs run loose and still obey. This is the class pet owners dream of!

dog agility eugene

Thursday @ 7:15pm
8 Weeks
Cost: $90.00

  • Imagine your dog choosing to be with you when it could run off.
  • Imagine your dog playing with another dog and immediately coming when you call.
  • Imagine your dog concentrating on you, amid a room full of chaos.
  • Imagine the pride you will feel, when others envy how responsive your dog is.
  • Imagine the fun of teaching your dog to jump, weave, and go through a chute.

Requirements
For dogs proven to not growl, snap or bite other dogs or people in a non-playful fashion regardless of the circumstances. Basic obedience needs to be to the level that your dog can follow the basic commands of come, sit, down, stay and not pull you on leash. When your dog has graduated out of our Out and About Class, it can enroll in Off leash through Agility.

How Training Benefits The Average Owner
Teaching a dog to jump, go through a tunnel, weave poles etc. is a lot of fun. Both owners and dogs really enjoy the process. In addition, because most agility training requires the dog to be off leash in a pretty exciting environment each dogs responsiveness to basic commands improves greatly. Dakota (the dog in the picture), wanted nothing more than to go visit other dogs when she first started agility training. In a short period of time she discovered her owners where a lot of fun and staying with them even though she was off leash was to her advantage.

Changing Emotions Program

For Dogs That Get Upset

"He's such a sweet dog but when he gets really upset when ..."
Tiffany adopted Jake when he was a year old. Tiffany was concerned because there were times when Jake would get really emotional. For some dogs this happens when to owner leaves the house, for others it is when they meet new dogs or people or when there are loud noises. For some dogs it is only under certain circumstances such as when they have a bone. The thing they all have in common is the dog is getting really upset by something and this can be very upsetting and difficult for owners.

The good news is the dog's emotions can change through our training in our Changing Emotions Program. Work with these dogs requires specialized training that involves desensitization, counter conditioning and classical conditioning. Regular socialization and obedience training will not help these dogs.

The first Step - Have your dog evaluated
The first step to resolving your dog's problems is to have your dog evaluated. We meet for an initial consultation to evaluate your dog, determine how many appointments you may need to successfully meet your goals and to give you some beginning help. The fee for this appointment is $65.00.

Training
Training is customized for each dog but the methods will be ones that do not cause pain or fear and that control the dog's exposure to stimuli so it can relax or be happy instead of upset. During the evaluation I will determine how many appointment may be needed. Since training is customized for each owner, fees will need to be determined during the evaluation. It is important you pay only for the number of appointments necessary to successfully train your dog instead of agreeing to a predetermined package but here is an example of my fee's
8 - 1 hour appointments $570.00
6 - 1/2 hour appointments $245.00
Decoy Fee - If a decoy is needed you pay $20.00 per hour to the decoy.
Travel Charge - !6.25 per 15 minutes of travel

If you want your appointment at a location other than my training building a travel fee will apply.

Would You Enjoy Your Dog More If It Did Not Get Upset?

Customized Private Dog Training

"My dogs and I will not learn well in a group class, I will be stressed and my schedule can be a bit of a problem"

dog chewing eugene As I spoke with Patty on the phone she told me she really wanted her dogs Schatzi and Schnitzel to learn to come when called, not jump on people and to not bark all the time. Patty had time to work with her dogs but said, "My dogs and I will not learn well in a group class, I will be stressed and my schedule can be a bit of a problem". Patty felt group classes were not right for her or her dogs. I could hear she was worried about these stumbling blocks to training.

It's a good thing group classes are not the only option. I told Patty about our Customized Private Training Program and Patty was delighted to take advantage of this option. Patty was able to set up appointments that worked with her schedule, learn in an environment that was good for her and to dictate what was taught.

It is not uncommon dogs misbehave right at the moment in which an owner can not attend to their dog. Through private training owners not only learn how to prevent misbehavior from occurring but also how to resolve existing issues. In the meantime, it is best to be proactive in preventing behavior problems when you can not work with your dog. This will make it easier to resolve:

  • Housetraining
  • Barking
  • Destruction
  • Playbiting
  • jumping

Private training is also helpful to teach your dog to:

  • Pay Attention when your say its name
  • Walk on a loose leash
  • Sit, lay down and stay
  • Come

Since private training is customized for each owner, fees will need to be determined over the phone when you call about classes. It is important you pay only for the number of appointments necessary to successfully train your dog instead of agreeing to a predetermined package. To develop a thorough understanding of what it will take to meet your goals and priorities you will be asked a lot of questions during our phone conversation. Then with this input from you, a training plan will be devised. You will be given information on how many appointments will be needed to successfully meet your goals and how long each appointment will need to be.

Are you ready to get started? Then just give me a call at 541-937-4391 to schedule your initial consultation.

Doggie MakeOver

"Can't You Just Do It For Me?"

private dog training eugene.jpg

I was speaking with Sue. She really wanted her dog to behave, I could hear the frustration in her voice as she described how her dog pulled on the leash, would not follow commands and jumped all over people. And then she said, "Can't you just do it for me?" Yes we can! Many people realize it is more productive to have a trained professional do the work for them. This is why even though my husband could work on my car he doesn't. He lets the professionals do the work.

Our Doggie Makeover Program gives you a reliably trained dog by a professional while your dog still lives at home and we provide everything to ensure success (training supplies, food, extra exercise etc.) When the training is completed, a transfer session is held with you to show you how to maintain the results that have been achieved.

Because a professional dog trainer has the refined skills necessary to train your dog, it takes a fraction of the time to meet your goals.

Ideal behaviors to have your trainer work on are:

  • eye contact
  • sit
  • down
  • loose leash walking
  • come
  • stay
  • the bell exercise
  • dropping objects
  • retrieving
  • bite inhibition
  • no jumping

How it works
We meet for an initial consultation to see what your dog will already do for you, take care of paper work, etc. Debbie then trains your dog during the week. When the training is complete a couple private consultations are arranged to transfer the training to you.

Fees
Since private training is customized for each owner, fees will need to be determined over the phone when you call about classes. It is important you pay only for the number of appointments necessary to successfully train your dog instead of agreeing to a predetermined package. To develop a thorough understanding of what it will take to meet your goals and priorities you will be asked a lot of questions during our phone conversation. Then with this input from you, a training plan will be devised. You will be given information on how many appointments will be needed to successfully meet your goals and how long each appointment will need to be.

If you want your appointment at a location other than my training building a travel fee will apply.

Lets get started so you can meet your goals. Give me call at 541-937-4391 to schedule your initial consultation.
